The Career Connections Center will offer more career resources for diverse student populations and provide easy access to such resources on its website.

  • 到目前为止, 13 Clark students have received internship offers for summer 2021 as part of 外围买球365’s partnership with 项目斜坡弯道, a workforce development organization developed by leading 麻萨诸塞州 life 科学s organizations to bridge the opportunity gap for students from historically marginalized populations and to help students gain access to paid opportunities within a highly competitive industry that is known for significant barriers to entry, especially for students from underrepresented groups. Clark students have been offered the opportunity to apply internship positions in STEM and non-STEM related roles with leading life 科学s organizations in the Worcester to Boston corridor, including first access to positions in 伍斯特 as negotiated between the Clark Career Connections and 项目斜坡弯道. Worcester internships included positions with AbbVie, Charles River Laboratories, LakePharma, 使生命科学, 和MustangBio. 到目前为止, 13 Clark students have received internship offers for summer 2021.

  • The Career Connections Center added identity-conscious resources to its website to help students integrate 多样性, 股本, and inclusion into their career development journeys. The resources provide students with access to campus resources, 工作搜索工具, networking and professional organizations, 游说团体, 法律信息, and other supports to help them understand how their unique identities tie into the career development process.

  • The Career Connections Center is partnering with 项目斜坡弯道, a 麻萨诸塞州 initiative to connect students from low-income backgrounds to 10- to 12-week paid internships in the life 科学s. Examples of internships for summer 2021 include laboratory work, 科学, 计算机科学, and business with employers such as AbbVie, LakePharma, 和野马生物. Students who receive federal Pell grants, or who come from low-income backgrounds, are encouraged to apply. In addition, the Career Connections Center is planning to add these website resources this spring:

    • Information for Trans Job Seekers
    • DACA and Undocumented Student Career Guide
    • Resources for Students with Disabilities

  • 在二月初, the Career Connections Center held its weeklong Life After Clark virtual conference for juniors and seniors, which included 10 workshops and panels and four guest speakers focusing on, 或包括, 多样性, 股本, and inclusion (DEI) topics: Dan Beaudry, “Job Search Strategies for International Students”; Abby Locke ’89, “Personal Branding for the Digital Job Search”; Stephanie Oliveras, “Smart Finances After College”; and Alexis Griswold ’17, “Designing Confidence: Strategies to Manage Job Search Anxiety and Burnout.” Most workshops incorporated information geared toward specific student populations, including students from underrepresented groups.

  • The Career Connections Center’s Office of Employer Engagement is actively cultivating and recruiting opportunities with hiring organizations for students from diverse populations. Recruiting events from late fall and winter Intersession included:

    • Breaking Barriers: First Gens in Tech with HubSpot
